After the yard sale, I came home and declared myself officially sick. Monday brought a trip to the doctor - diagnosis was bronchitis. So here we are an unproductive week later and I still sound like a frog. I do feel a bit better, but the heat here in South Carolina is oppressive and makes it hard to breathe.
I decided that these vintage nesting tables needed a facelift. I used Behr Teal Zeal and Minwax Dark Walnut. I have notice many pieces of teal or aqua furniture in blogland lately. It's funny how you begin to notice pieces in colors you are using.
I began on the smallest table using my sander on the top. That was a major job. Then I got smart and got some finish remover for the other two tables.

After I had started the nesting table project, I decided to order some chalk paint to use on this telephone table. The painting was so much easier and faster. Being a chalk paint newbie, I goofed up and used the dark wax first. Reading directions is not my strong suit.
This is the table after the Old White chalk paint, dark wax and with the original fabric. The fabric was in good shape but I couldn't get it as clean as I wanted. (Incidentally, when I was moving it to take the photo, I dropped one leg on my foot and fractured a small bone in the top of the foot.)
Here is the table after another coat of chalk paint, clear wax and an updated seat cover. I think it looks so much better. Notice that I did not move it to the yard for the photo.
I also got in my stash and made some altered journals and Scrabble tile necklaces that I saw here on Junky Vagabonds blog and pinned. (Don't you just love Pinterest?)

Very cute, those little tables. Hope your voice is back soon. I am working on my slipcover for the 1950's sofa. I have been instructed to stay off the ladder unless Ray is home, so wallpapering begins again this weekend. I am dying to try my chalk paint - I got a book on how to use it, so maybe it will not be too hard.
